How to Clean a Rug
To increase the appeal and durability of your rugs, proper care and maintenance is important. These simple tips on cleaning rugs will surely help to maintain the cleanliness of your rugs.
1. Use doormats before entering your house
Doormats help maintain the cleanliness of your rugs by trapping excess soil, dirt and other unnecessary filth. However, make sure that you frequently clean your doormats as well.
2. Vacuum your rugs
Vacuum cleaning is important in the regular maintenance of rugs. Areas with light activity should be vacuumed at least once a week and areas with heavy activity should be vacuumed 2-3 times a week.
3. Remove spots and spills on your rugs
Food spills should be scraped with a dull knife or spoon. Wet spills, on the other hand, should be blotted with clean absorbent cloth or paper towels.
4. Choose a good vacuum cleaner
A high quality vacuum cleaner works effectively in removing dirt. In choosing vacuum cleaners, make sure that they will match the type of rugs you have. Vacuums with rotating brushes or combination beaters should be chosen for ordinary rugs and vacuums with suction only or those with adjustable brushes should be used for rugs with thick loop piles.
